Dynapumps was contracted to upgrade two existing water pumps on the site, due to an increase in the required flow rate. To meet the revised duties of 190L/s and 213L/s, Pumpsense horizontal split-case pumps were utilized. Each pump was driven by a Toshiba electric motor via disc couplings. As a result of the increased flow, the suction and discharge piping arrangement had to be resized. Dynapumps designed and fabricated a DN400 suction line including an Ulbrec suction strainer and a Bray Series 3W butterfly valve, as well as a DN250 discharge line including an ABB Process Master flowmeter.
Since the pumps were drawing water from the nearby dam, there was no positive suction head to prime the pumps. Therefore, an additional priming unit was installed on each suction arrangement to ensure the pumps were sufficiently primed before operating. The entire arrangement was custom-designed in-house by Dynapumps to suit the client's requirements on-site, considering the existing infrastructure in place.
